Writing » Poems » Peaceful plain

He was lying in the grass,
Breathing slowly,
Enjoying the sun,
And feeling the wind blowing.

He was on a plain.
He didn't want to move.
Day turned to night,
Night turned to day.

He stayed like this for days.
He was waiting.
He was alone.
He was dying.

His blood was flowing.
His skin was flayed and ripped apart.
His bones were broken,
His organs were spread all around.
His head was the only intact part.

He wanted to die,
Yet Death didn't claim him.
He wanted to suffer,
Because of things he has done.

His end would arrive in due time.
He who lived by the sword
Will die by the sword.

Notes/trivia

  • Set in the same universe as "Battle drive" and "The wanderer", this time starring the character fought by the protagonist of the former poem.
  • The protagonist of this poem got better after the described incident, and ended up living for many, _many_ years, before dying in a duel with one of his cousins, just because that's what fate wanted.
