Poems » Wave rider

Each wave was different.
Mono knew that each one
Corresponded to a song.
His ship reacted to music, after all.

Going uphill meant calmness,
But when the storm comes,
It's a downhill ride.
Each wave was dangerous.

Mono and danger
Knew each other.
Each wave had traffic.
A lot of it.

Hitting coloured traffic
Was beneficial to Mono,
While dull gray traffic
Needed to be avoided.

At the end of each wave,
Mono goes to sleep,
Until he wakes up again,
At the start of a new one.

He knew he wasn't
The only wave rider.
He competed against
Many, many other riders.

But he didn't care,
Because he loved
Riding waves
And avoiding traffic.

Notes/trivia

  • When I wrote this one, I wanted to write a poem that was based on another video game I played. The first Audiosurf, to be accurate. Mono is a "character"/mode in the game, and one of the easier ones to play.
  • The last two stanzas are about my relationship to the online scoreboards. My stance is that I don't care about them at all. What I like about Audiosurf is the core gameplay.
